HOW TO SELECT A PROCESSOR FOR LAPTOP OR DESKTOP

It depends upon your needs, budget and power consumption.

Basic processors like dual core is  generally  applicable for  simple tasks such as browsing the web, word processing, accounting and listening to music. Higher ended processors like core i3,core i5, core i7 include tasks like photo editing, video encoding, software development and gaming

SELECTION OF RAM

It is recommended  no less than 2 GB even for the cheapest of systems, though 4 GB will yield a noticeable performance boost.

For those who plan on gaming, photo/video editing or heavy multitasking, we recommend at least 8 GB of RAM or 16 GB

SELECTION OF HARDDISK

It depends upon the users need for storing music, videos, documents, images and every kind of digital data. Although it is gradually replaced with flash storage, it is still used to store music, videos, documents, images and every kind of digital data.

WHO SHOULD BUY A LAPTOP OR DESKTOP WITH GRAPHICS CARD

The customers who are into

GAMING OR GAME EDITING

VIDEO  OR IMAGE  EDITING

PROCESSING LOT OF DATA QUICKLY / DATA MINING

GRAPHIC DESIGNING AND RENDERING 3D  MODELS

WHO DON’T NEED A LAPTOP OR DESKTOP WITH GRAPHICS CARD

Users who reads email, browses the web, drafts documents, works with accounting software.

Desktop computer vs. Laptop computer

DESKTOP LAPTOP
1. It is relatively cheap and Still a powerful system Laptops have a wide variety of components and costlier
2. Desktops are large in size Laptops are very portable due to their compact size. They were designed to be taken from place to place
3. Most components in a desktop are easily removable, making it easier to upgrade and since desktop cases are usually much bigger they're easier to work in when doing any upgradation.

Only memory and Hardisks can be upgraded, the other components are either built-in.

Laptop is not designed to Work with an upgraded version of component.

4. Repairing a desktop computer is much easier since most of the hardware can be easily purchased off the shelf from any local computer retail stores In case of service of laptops and reparing it is tedious and finding a replacement very easy.

HOW TO CHOOSE HOME UPS & BATTERY

Look at the list of appliances that you want to run on backup and their wattage.

  • 1 Fan – 90 watts
  • 1 tube light –50 watts for standard tube lights. 28 watts for T5 tubelights.
  • 1 CFL – 25 watts.
  • 1 Television –
    • LED TVs take 30-100 watts
    • LCD TVs consume  50-150 watts.
    • CRT takes about    120 watts.
    •
  • Desktops consume 120-250 watts depending on type. Those with LCD screens consume about 150 watts and those with CRT about 250.
  • Laptops consume about 50 watts.
  • Wi-Fi routers, modems, mobile phone chargers, etc consume 5 watts or less.
  • A room air cooler would be about 250-300 watts.
  • Induction cooker would be 1000-1500 watts (or 1 – 1.5 kW)
  • Mixer Grinder would also be about 350 watts

Suppose you want  the following in UPS mode, 1 fan,1 tubelight,1 CFL, 1 CRT TV  during powercut , calculation is as follows

1 Fans-90 X1
1 Tube lights-50X1
1 CFL-25X1
1 CRT tv-125 x1
Total  load 285 watts / 0.8 = 356 VA(considering the power factor)

Now you may have a get an inverter with VA value more than 356 (say 400 VA). INVERTER CAPACITY - 400 va

Find the battery size that you require

Now in the example above we needed a 356 VA inverter and we want a backup of 6 hours, then the total VAh that we need is:

356 x 6 = 2136 VAh

A regular inverter battery available in market is of 12 V, so the Ah value of battery required would be:

2136 / 12 = 178 Ah

If you go the market to purchase a battery then the first thing that you need to look at is the Ah value, which is representative of how much energy a battery can store. Typical Ah value of inverter batteries in market are: 100 Ah, 120 Ah, 150 Ah, 180 Ah, 200 Ah.

So in our example a 180 Ah battery  &  400 va  INVERTER  would be ideal for the system.
